Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator Program

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) has recently issued an open solicitation for applications for appointments as HHMI investigators; full details and FAQs are posted at https://www.hhmi.org/programs/biomedical-research/investigator-program. An open solicitation means that an applicant may “self-nominate;” these are not institutional nominations. These awards are highly competitive; only 20 awards will be made.

The general eligibility criteria are that a candidate

• Hold a PhD, and/or MD (or the equivalent).
• Hold a tenured or tenure-track position as assistant professor or higher academic rank (or the equivalent) at an eligible U.S. institution. Federal government employees are not eligible.
• Have more than 3, but no more than 12 years, of post-training, professional experience.
• Be the principal investigator on one or more active, national, peer-reviewed research grants with an initial duration of at least three years

Applications due to HHMI: June 27, 2017, 3:00 pm.
