Welcome to the Office of Research, Health Sciences (OORHS) grant application resource page. Here you will find a variety of resources to assist you in developing applications for extramural funding. These include:

Boilerplate Descriptions of Research Resources
The three links provide lists of University offices, facilities, and resources that may be utilized in the research being proposed in your application. The descriptions associated with each resource are updated annually (in September), and provide boilerplate language that may be used to illustrate the enriched research environment at the University of Pittsburgh.

NIH Funding to University of Pittsburgh Investigators
Historical NIH funding data may be useful for emphasizing to the reviewers of your application the success of the University of Pittsburgh in obtaining funding for particular research areas or from particular NIH institutes. Here you will find links to databases containing all NIH awards (Direct + Indirect Costs) made to University of Pittsburgh investigators during a given federal fiscal year (FFY). These databases may be sorted by investigator, school, department, award ID, or NIH institute / center. The information in these documents reflects the University’s awards as on record at the NIH.

Application Repository to Help University Researchers (ARTHUR) ( Link )
In order to provide examples of successful grant applications to investigators who do not have extensive experience with proposal development, we have created a repository of funded, federal grant applications written by investigators in the six Schools of the Health Sciences, and awarded through various mechanisms. Members of the University’s biomedical research community can request electronic copies of these applications from the OORHS, to assist them in the development of their own proposals. Investigators can search an index of funded applications sorted by award type, school, or department, and submit a request for proposals online. Copies of applications are usually provided via e-mail within 5 working days. Expedited requests will be considered, but cannot always be honored. We are not able to provide copies of applications to individuals outside of the University of Pittsburgh.
